Thanks to Keith Russell for sending me these two great shots of the Nightjar up at Leighton Moss at the weekend - a grit tray for Bearded Tits (sorry, Reedlings...whatever) isn't the most obvious place for one of these critters to hang out, but maybe it thought it blended in...
Keith explains: "I went to Leighton Moss on Saturday after the Great White Egret only to bump into the Nightjar.
"Got a couple of pics. It was an amazing creature comatose all afternoon on one of the grit trays except for a half hourly rocking motion and an occasional yawn".
Thanks again Keith - its behaviour sounds not dissimilar to my own on a good Saturday afternoon.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

The camouflage is a bit shot but it is a great shot.
Wow great bird would've loved to have seen that in the grit tray
I managed to catch up with the Nightjar aswell and got the Great White Egret from the Crag Road viewpoint overlooking the Allen and Eric pools and the saltmarsh.
