Shaping up nicely

Nice fourth division hooley ripping over Ainsdale beach today, if a bit SWly for my tastes, but it was a good precursor to the 30mph blow forecast for tomorrow (in fact it was picking up when I left the beach at 7pm tonight).
Plenty of commoner waders sheltering or feeding, and 12 dead Guillemots and 3 ex-Razorbills ("Robin-strokers" can relax, didn't have time to pap the stiffs today), including one ringed Gilly (R94 909).

There's something "wintry" about the plumage of Barwits feeding in the channels, lovely subtle tones, compared to the stark Oycs, and now decidedly blotchy Grey Plovers.
One Bonxie battering LBBs offshore was the best out to sea (the gulls had it coming - you should see what they do to stranded auks), and at least 200 Common Scoter.
Hopefully we may get a Leach's or two tomorrow.
Bizarro award today goes to the flock of seven Skylarks that flew in low from the east out of the dunes, over the surf and kept on going out into the Irish Sea, inches above the an-grey swell - not the smartest move, even for chunky passers like these.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Hi John,
Due to a new and not particularly well functioning 'behind the scenes website architecture' type thing, the WWT Martin Mere sightings page has only just got up and running again.
Anyone who had the page as a favourite, or uses your list to click through will be disappointed as the address has now changed to
http://www.wwt.org.uk/visit-us/martin-mere/wildlife-sightings
Unlike before you now have to click on the text to see the whole message. Apparently this is progress..

Thanks Andy, I've tweaked the link, so it should feed through to the new sightings address....
