Marshside was a touch inhospitable today - frequent showers on a cold north westerly wind, and little light past about 1pm.
The Water Rail was noodling about to the north of Sandgrounders, with Snipe, Little Egrets etc on the marsh, and Pochard on the Sandplant pool.
Scrotes on a quad and scrambler bike meant it was pointless to check the peninsula and old compound.
Merlin about earlier, but the rain meant raptors were conspicuous by their absence, although it didn't stop GBBs going about their murderous business, patrolling overhead for unwary wildfowl.
Lapwings, Golden Plover and plenty of Teal on Marshside One, but I couldn't pick out the Green Winged today.
Good numbers of Pintail, the males even managing to look dapper in the rain.
A small gull roost only held BHGs (including two heading into full summer plumage) and Herrings.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
