It would have been gross dereliction of birding duty not to pop back and look at the Weld Road Shorelark in daylight today, so that's just what I did.
The bird did fly off once or twice, but returned to the same muddy area just north of the car park, giving great views to the waiting crowd - smashing to see so many folk down to enjoy it.
Lovely little critter, especially when the sun came out, but, just like last night it was feeding like crazy. Hopefully it'll stick around for awhile.
Only down side to the morning was the discovery by SiG that he didn't have the bottle of wine in his bag that he thought he did - you can't have everything I suppose.
A half-hearted hunt for Jack Snipe after a scope-full of Shorelark was predictably unsuccessful, but there were Common Snipe, Stonechat, Reed Bunting and Skylark around Taggs as normal.
Didn't see the finch flock today, but I believe some folk had Twite down here this morning, it's about time they came back.
Finished the day off with a visit to Hesketh Out Marsh, which was looking suitably wintry in the fading November light - few small flocks of Whoopers and commoner wader species, plus Mipits and Pied Wags.
The Great White Egret was reported down at Banks this pm, but there were only Littles up at the Out Marsh.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
