Lunch with the Gormleys

Spent half an hour or so on the beach at Crosby at lunchtime with Eugene McCann, as the temperature plummeted and the light went all blue and grey.
Not bad though with two nice adult Yellow Legged Gulls (Michael Hutchence race), both spooked by dog walkers before we could get particularly close to 'em.
One bird was in the usual roost at the south end of the beach, the other further up on the tide's edge nearer to Hall Road.

At least ten "argentatus"/Scandinavian Herring Gulls (call 'em what you will), looking mean and moody, while several Black headed Gulls are already well on the way to full summer plumage.

No Meds out there today that we could see (hiding in Seaforth no doubt), but two Grey Wags over, and three Shags resting on the mussel booms in the south east corner of the Marina with two Cormorants.
Earlier two Buzzards and about 100 Pinkies in the air around the Hightown Bends.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Woodcock flushed by shooters from the walled grounds off the main road near Ince Blundell Woods today. Flew over my head down the road a bit and back over the wall. The gun brigade didn't get it thankfully
