Bits and bobs around Crosby Marine Park today, with 13 Goldeneye and at least 26 Tufties on the lake, 4 Great Crested Grebes and a male Pochard, despite a bit of boating.
Conditions got quite settled as the morning went on, and a few flocks of finches passed over - mainly Chaffinches.
Two Shags still on the water, they were on one of the "mussel booms" preening in the south east corner early on, then took to the wet for a bit of fishing.
At least nine Skylarks, a few Meadow Pipits and 7 Linnets with the Pied Wags, commuting from the dunes and grassland to the tideline throughout the day.
Bazzo's call to alert me to two Little Auks passing Formby Point (see comment previous entry) and heading in my direction was thoughtful, although the chances of me picking them up again before they became gull fodder was minimal.
Not surprisingly they didn't show, although a nice adult winter Little Gull was feeding just behind the surf.
Now four Corn Buntings around the dunes, but only 3 would pose for a pic today.
On the way home, hunting Barn Owl and a perched up Little Owl near the Weld Blundell pub on Formby by-pass was a nice way to end the day.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
