Thanks to Neill Hunt for these shots of the Firecrest at Southport's Hesketh Park....just goes to show you can even get shots of a zippy little sprite like this if you're good - and quick - enough.
Neill explains: "Still at the park today.
Little bird, long way away!
As well as the 'crest, plenty of Goldcrests and tits - Blues, Great, Coal and loads of Long Tails. Treecreepers galore, numerous Nuthatches, Jays and Great Spots.
A few birders milling about with a lot of familiar faces.
Only 1 Firecrest seen today but it's a big park with lots good areas for hiding."
Thanks again buddy.

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

9 Twite over Weld Rd late afternoon today. "Comments" bit of the blog seems to be working ok now, if anyone has any news...
I was having trouble getting onto the site this morning John, on Friday I couldn't get onto it at all. Seems to be working OK now though.
3 Woodcock on Hesketh Golf Course this afternoon.
2 male Blackcaps appeared in my garden today consorting with the 40 odd House Sparrows which live in the house wall Ivy (Whoops maybe that should be Blackcap and Sparrow...No 's'). Meanwhile, surprisingly late and in such a chilly season, I found a freshly dead Angle Shades Moth outside Crosby Baths last week.
