If there's anyone who can galvanise me through the slowly, sneaky vacuum between Xmas and New Year it'll be Trops*, so here's the latest missive from the depths of his garden...
"Thought I'd stake out my local local patch (the back garden) this am, as an overindulgence of the Christmas spirit the previous evening with Neill and our good ladies left me feeling rather fragile, and coffee and toast where readily on hand," explains the great man.

"A two hour vigil produced 2 Song Thrush, 9 Blackbirds, 2 Robins, 2 Greenfinch, 7 Goldfinch, 5 Starlings, 1 Reed Bunting, approx 12 Chaffinches, a male Blackcap, Blue Great and Coal Tits and the star of the show a female Brambling.
"This is the second first in two days for Thomason Towers. Groups of Woodpigeon coming and going all the time. This is the one time of the year when you can get good birding in your own back garden, and maybe photograph them too, just by putting out a regular mix of bird foods and apples".

Ta for the pix buddy - Dempsey Towers is buzzing too - 3 Brambling, 12 Chaffinch, 5 Gringos, 8 Goldfinch, 4 Blackbird, 3 Redwing, 2 Greater Peckers, Sprawk, 9+ Woodpigeon, titmice galore...
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
* Praising Trops at this time of year could of course be interpreted as merely Xmas largesse...however I take no responsibility for anyone who may put their lives in his hands, all I know is that they will certainly have a good time.
