Far too nice a day to slave in front of the web pulling together the latest trip report from our Costa Rican adventure, so I nipped down to Marshside for an hour to have a look at the Lesser Scaup.
Still doing its thing on the Junction Pool with the Tufties - quite engaging really, diving, preening, scooting about and even upending like a dabbler for a time.
Nice critter, but impossible to say if it is the same bird as the moulty thing I saw on Feb 27th, some marks on the rear flanks are similar, but you could never be sure.

Quick look at the Sandplant Compound (mercifully free of motorbikes for once) provided plenty of Mipits, Skylark and a fine male Wheatear, that refused to give me a clear shot.
There will be others.

Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Nice to meet you today and great shots of the Scaup. Not had time to process mine yet!
Saw the drake Ring Necked Duck at Seaforth at lunchtime today - a very smart duck!
Lesser Scaup showed well today from the Junction Pool also Snipe and small group of Ruff and Golden Plover in the back field near the golf course from Nels Hide.
