Many thanks to Ralph Jones for sending me these two shots of the male Dotterel on the Great Orme above Llandudno yesterday - the Orme was certainly on form with Arctic Redpoll, Lapland Bunting and other goodies too, but it always was a superb migration point.
I think I'm right in saying this Dotterel was one of the earlilest ever there - it'll be interesting to see if any come through the mosses earlier than usual this year....Plex is always worth a look.

Peak time is last week in April and first week of May, but if one can try to sneak through the Orme in the second week of April, you never know....
Kinda quiet around Ainsdale today, although up to 15 Swallows scooted past Shore Road beach entrance during the day - all heading south.
Thanks again Ralph.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

Grasshopper Warbler in dunes south of Shore Road today.

Tues 12th April. 9 Sand Lizards recorded at Ainsdale. Some stunning males seen recently. So far this season I've had a total of 29 in the Ainsdale / Birkdale area. 2 Wheatear and 3 White Wags at the Green Beach on this date.

John,
Other than Mere Sands Wood any suggestions where I might see Kingfisher at this time of year?
Roger.

Hi Roger, obviously Mere Sands remains the best bet for Kingfisher at this time of year, but the willows over the pool between the Ronnie Barker and Kingfisher Hides at Martin Mere can be good, as can the wee bridge in front of the former hide.
You could always head down to the south - Marbury Country Park etc gets 'em regularly.
Good luck.
