Thanks to Tropical Thomason for sending me these two shots of Southern Hawker from his garden today.
Always a nice dragon to come across. Over to Trops...
"Southern Hawker visits Lady Di...Found this Southern Hawker feeding around and resting on clematis "Lady Diana". It was around all afternoon and twice did that hover in front of your face thing, very disconcerting.
"Thank gawd they don't get any bigger or I'd have to beat it off with a large stick.
Ain't had a chance to do much dragonflying myself yet - the perfect conditions on the coast have the same effect on tourists as they do on dragons, so I was way too busy today, and tomorrow doesn't look much better either.
Still Grayling in the frontal dunes today though. Very nice. A few parties of Swifts zooming up and down the coast too.
Chris Tynan had a peek at Sands Lake, where he had Brown Hawker.
Incidentally, if anyone had difficulty picking up the link to the Mersey ferry "mini-pelagics" events next month and in September on Paul Brady's recent comment, here it is again. Remember, booking is essential.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
