Spent an hour or so on the grassy bank north of Weld Road today, as the huge, and flat calm, tide rippled in around me, cutting off the bank completely and assuring reduced disturbance.
Baking hot obviously, but I'd hoped for something good to emerge from the marsh as the tide rose.
It didn't.
A few Skylarks and Jackdaws, plus 10 zippy Mipits, and wading Carrion Crows were the best I could muster.
A Curlew or two dropped in briefly, and a small gull roost was in the shallows beyond the marsh, while Reed Bunts called. Usual Linnet flock about.
Very hot, very quiet.
Back at Dempsey Towers, several Red Admirals, Peacocks and Commas.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

1 Raven, 2 Swallows over Lifeboat Rd, Formby today.
What looked like a Raven (no bins) headed south over the frontal dunes at Ainsdale early doors today.
Nice pic .
