Tiny, tiny Willow Warbler.

Clearly "digi-binning" has its limitations, but I couldn't resist a pic of one of the many Willow Warblers singing around Lifeboat Road and Ravenmeols yesterday, where I've been working for the last two days.
You can just about make the liittle weasel out - probably best stick to bigger stuff when it comes to balancing the camera against a pair of hand-held bins.
Blackcaps, mating Swallows, possibly a singing invisible Garden Warbler (I always have trouble distinguishing them from Blackcap sub-song at this time of the year, even though the song is so much sweeter), and plenty of Orange Tips, Speckled Woods etc in the bright sunshine.
Not got down to Formby till after the tide each day unfortunately (currently living through seven days of late shifts), but plenty of waders on the shore between Albert Rd and Cabin HIll, with Little and Sandwich Tern (see Gaz's recent comments).
Gannets in the river mouth yesterday, and possibly two Arctic Skuas, but they were too far out to pin down - in the heat-haze shimmer they could just have been young gulls chasing adults for food, although I don't think so....
That whole stretch of the coast looks so good at this time of year - from bouncy Red Squirrels to St Mark's Flies and orchid shoots beginning to emerge from the sand.
Wheatears scattered along the dunes as you'd expect, and a nice Grasshopper Warbler reeling away at the junction of Range Lane and Stapleton Road today.
Nuthatch singing on Albert Road and north of St Lukes Road, which I always get a kick out of too - one day they'll make it to the Dempsey Towers garden.
One day.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...

We live in Birkdale John and I think it's outrageous that we don't have Nuthatches visiting our garden with all the delights we have to offer.
Is there anyone I can contact to register a protest ?

Visited Marshside and Martin Mere today John . At Marshside the splendid Mediterranean Gull was still in attendance sitting on a distant fence post while (or should that be whilst) a lovely black headed Ruff was visible at the far side of Junction Pool . At Martin Mere the Common Crane had apparently been seen today from the Ron Barker Hide, although it had disappeared by the time we arrived. Maybe a few Cranes are moving this way from down South ( they could be as common as Little Egrets soon ) .

Hi all, a female Merlin and one Yellow Wagtail on Engine Lane, Altcar and ad female Marsh Harrier on Plex at 1830 going over towards Marshside today.

Finally had Whitethroat today, 1 along Fine Janes Brook at Kew. None yesterday along the main path at Birkdale NR.
