You'll have to excuse me if I appear a bit tetchier than normal - just had an hour or so of computer nightmare...why are these machines so unimaginative????
Anyway, working down in Birkdale dunes again today, where I got the impression this lovely bright male Stonechat was passing through, rather than one of the handful of wintering birds we've had this year.
Certainly haven't had a male as bright as him in the dunes for a few months - perhaps it was a touch of early spring movement????
Weird and wonderful fungus on rotting branches in the scrub clearance areas, think this one may be Jelly/Judas Ear, but then again it may not.
Clearly a huge emergence of Common Toads in the leaf litter today.
Even though a few have been clambering through the undergrowth for the last few weeks, today was the first time I've seen large numbers this year, although they won't enjoy the forecast imminent return of cold weather.
Smooth Newt out today as well, and Chiffy calling.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
