Thanks as ever to Rich Steel for these cracking shots from his trip to Romania earlier in the year - sorry it too me so long to post 'em Rich.
"The trip was split in to two halves between the Danube Delta and some mountains and lagoons on the east side of the country", Rich explains.
" It looks like vast swathes of the country have been decimated in terms of wildlife by the former communist state farming practices turning the middle of the country into a monoculture prairie but all is good round the edges.
The Delta itself is mind-blowing!!
"The attached photos are from the first day in Bucharest waiting to go to the Delta and first 3 sessions out of 5 on the Delta itself. Could well be doing a return visit next year".
All classy Danube stuff - Squacco, Dalmatian Pelican and Pygmy Cormorant, with Rich getting some cracking passer shots including Cuckoo (remember them?) and Great Reed Warbler.
Tasty grebes too, like the Black Necked at the top of the entry, and the Red Necked below.
Lovely stuff. Cheers Rich.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
