I thought the pool on the outer marsh at Marshside was looking particularly tasty today, with Spotted Redshank, several Little Egrets, Snipe and Dunlin amongst the Blackwits and Lapwings - until I heard about the Buff Breasted Sandpiper at Hesketh Out Marsh.
Whizzed up there, but unfortunately the bird had gone before I arrived, but that's the way it goes.
HoM looks so tasty for waders at the moment its surprising more Yankees don't turn up there...3 Greenshank, Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Peregrine, Sprawk etc while I was there.
Anyway, at least the pool at Marshside was nice even if the Spot Red was a bit distant (apologies for the rainy blur blow-up at the top).
Hopefully these heavy showers will bring something else down - it is Autumn after all, all to play for.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
