Pummellin' downpours and a stiff old semi-gale made for difficult conditions on the mosses this afternoon, and no surprises either!!
Complete contrast to yesterday, when a reasonable passage of finches down the coast in the morning gave me two Bramblings over at Ainsdale, alongside Mipits, alba wags and Skylarks (although fewer of the latter than the large movement earlier in the week).
Kestrel and Peregrine on the Withins today, and large numbers of Pink Feet scattered about.
In the high winds most of the large flocks had splintered into smaller groups which spent much of their time hunkered down in the stubble.
Common Buzzard on Plex was having a hard time in the high winds, mewing away in the rocking branches or attempting short range flights.
Eyes to the skies everyone, eyes to the skies...
